Staff of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia recorded violations at a fish farm belonging to “Miavar” LLC in the Gandzak settlement of Gegharkunik region. Without a water-use permit, the company abstracted water for fish farming from two deep wells, illegally using 1,369,681 cubic meters of groundwater. The calculated damage to water resources came to 12,327,129 drams.

By decision of the head of the Inspection Body’s Gegharkunik territorial department, operation of the two deep wells has been suspended. Taking into account the recorded facts and the signs of a criminal offense they contain, the Inspection Body has submitted a report on an apparent crime to the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
