Demolition of Illegal Structures Resumes in Sevan National Park: 20 Buildings Removed in Two Months

After the end of the beach season, demolition of unauthorized buildings, structures and retaining walls has resumed in Sevan National Park. Through the joint work of the “Sevan National Park” SNCO and partner bodies, illegal construction was dismantled in September and October 2026 in areas below the 1,905-meter absolute elevation mark of Lake Sevan. Over the two months, 20 unauthorized buildings, structures and retaining walls were removed.

The national park also urges all businesses with unauthorized structures below the 1,905-meter mark on land they use to dismantle them voluntarily as soon as possible, notifying the national park or the relevant municipality in advance. Compliance will allow them to avoid the liability measures set by law. The park stresses that protecting Lake Sevan is a shared responsibility, and that observing the law is an important step in protecting the lake’s natural environment and the public interest.
